JBL UREI 813A

Studio monitor Pair

This is a pair of the famous 813A monitors released in 1977 during the golden age of audio by UREI, United Recording Electronics Industry, a renowned long-established manufacturer.

The units feature two high-capacity 800W 15-inch subwoofers. In addition, they are equipped with two 801A coaxial units, using the 604-8K type L.F. + 2425HS driver configuration, known for the distinctive blue horn of UREI’s flagship models.

The network section uses the MODEL 838, a dedicated time-aligned network for the 813, which is highly regarded as one of the finest in UREI’s history and part of the famous 8xx series.
This allows the signals produced from each unit to arrive at the listening point without time delay or phase difference, achieving excellent sound imaging.

The sky-blue horn, a signature feature of UREI, is truly eye-catching.
By attaching foam-like pads to the horn section, UREI successfully reduced irregularities near the cutoff frequency. In addition, resonators were formed on the inner walls of the horn to eliminate the 3kHz peak.

Sound Quality

From the coaxially arranged horn, the mid-to-high frequencies are delivered with strong sound pressure, producing a powerful sound.

In addition to the excellent sound imaging made possible by the coaxial 2-way design, the connection from the contemporary low range to the high range is also outstanding. Overall, these monitors feel extremely well-balanced and nearly flawless.

This pair offers both excellent sound quality and sound pressure from the units.
